Sambar Rice also known as bisibelabath. One of the easiest lunch preparation in South India. It is usually served for lunch with Apalam (papad). For someone who wanted to have simple lunch, would suggest you to have Sambar Rice. Sambar Masala powder is available in market, however in this video you will learn how to prepare your own sambar masala at your home. This my grandma secret masala preparation, well now exposed to whole world. Enjoy cooking Sambar Rice.


Ingredients

1. For Sambar Masala Powder Preparation
1 spoon of coriander
½ spoon of fenugreek
½ spoon of black cumin
1 spoon of Bengal gram
5 dry chilli
2. Tamarind juice
3. 2 Onion
4. 5 baby watermelon
5. 2 green chilli
6. 1 carrot
7. 5 beans
8. 1 chav chav 
9. 2 brinjal
10. 1 drumstick
11. 1 tomato
12. 1 capsicum
13. 1 potato
14. Curry leaves
15. 3 dry chilli
16. 1 spoon of mustard
17. 1 spoon of turmeric powder
18. 1 spoon of asafoetida powder
19. Salt as per your requirement
20. Half tumbler of red gram
21. 1 tumbler of rice
22. Oil
23. Water

First Level Preparation

Chopping Vegetables
1. Chop all the vegetables one by one and keep it aside as shown in the video

Sambar Masala Powder Preparation

1. Place the tawa on the stove, pour some oil and fenugreek, Bengal gram, red gram, coriander and dry chilli immediately.
2. Fry it until it becomes golden brown color.
3. Put it in a blender and make it a fine powder. Now Sambar Masala powder is ready. Keep it aside.

Cooking Process


1. Wash the rice well and put in it the cooker
2. Now add red gram and chopped vegetables one by one as shown in the video.
3. Add salt as per your requirement and 2 spoon of asafoetida powder
4. Add 1 spoon of turmeric powder
5. Dissolve the tamarind in the water and add the juice.
6. Half of the cooker to be filled with water and mix it well
7. Place the cooker on the stove and close the lid properly. Wait for 3 whistle blow.
8. Now open the lid carefully.
9. Once again place the tawa on the stove and pour some oil.
10. Pour some ghee into it. 
11. Add one spoon of mustard, add curry leaves and dry chilli
12. Fry it for few seconds and pour it on the rice in the cooker
13. Now add two spoon of Sambar Masala powder which is already prepared.
14. Mix it well.
15. Now Sambar rice is ready. Serve it with Apalam or curry leaves chutney
